I'M PERFECT, YOU'RE DOOMED Tales from a Jehovah's Witness Upbringing
Kyria Lydia Abrahams I’m Perfect,
You’re Doomed tells about
her life from childhood into young adulthood. Its humor outshines the more somber aspects such as
her being denied the chance to have a childhood of happy occasions such as birthdays and Christmas; also denied any normal
opportunities to date for fun; and being forbidden to marry outside the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Her book is honest and funny, not bitter but beautifully expressive.
It
is not surprising to know that, when not writing, today Kyria Abrahams is a standup comedian and a poetess of the
spoken word.
“Best book
by an ex-Jehovah's Witness
from Pawtucket I have ever read. Very funny. Very, very funny. Very, very, very funny." —Janeane Garofalo

GROWING UP AS A WITNESS By Joe Lee Jr.
Joe Lee Jr. has written Growing Up As A Witness, in which the main character
grows up as a Jehovah’s Witness in a very violent and abusive home yet finally breaks free from the cycle of abuse.
The story reflects much of his own experiences, and its intention is to help others living in or going through domestic violence.
Joe describes himself today as a loving, successful man.
The book is now available
at Publishamerica.com and will be at other book stores November 21, 2009. Read more
about the author at http://www.growingupawitness.com and he is also on Facebook.

The Truth Book By Joy Castro The Truth Book is a fascinating biography.
In it author Joy Castro is adopted at birth by a family of Jehovah’s Witnesses, losing the normal joys associated
with childhood but finally regains her life after running off at age 14.
Today
she is a literature professor at Wabash College in Indiana. Because she is tolerant of other people’s
religions and no longer a JW, she is now shunned by JWs as an evil “apostate”!
The American Booksellers
Association has named her powerful book a Book Sense Notable Book. It has also been used as a text in courses on
autobiography, women's literature, creative nonfiction, women and psychology.

BLOODFLOWERS By
David Villa
David Villa is a young Mexican American ex-JW author whose novel
Bloodflowers is a fictional account about a Jehovah's Witness, Daniel Verona, who is a hemophiliac. The deaths of JW twins causes him to begin a spiritual journey searching for
the real truth about "The Truth." Along the way he must also fight the fact that he can never live up to "Jehovah's
perfect standards."
Thus, we see that David's book deals with that most controversial of all misinterpretations
imposed by the Watchtower Society over JWs, the prohibition against using emergency blood transfusions even when
lives are at stake!

NEW BOOK BY FORMER JEHOVAH'S WITNESS RICHARD
KELLY: GROWING UP IN MOMA'S CLUB
Recently Ex-Jehovah's Witness author
Richard E. Kelly appeared on Rick Fearon's Six Screens Of The Watchtower telephone conference, which is every two weeks
on a Saturday night. Richard Kelly has said of his book:
"When I was four years of age, during
my mother’s turbulent five-month conversion process, I thought she was joining a club. Once she became a member, Mama
insulated me from an outside world she believed would be destroyed before I reached the age of twenty. While I didn’t
know it at the time, my childhood was similar in many ways to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest—forced
to live with Nurse Ratchet-type rules and surrounded by a supporting cast of unusual and colorful characters."
Richard's website is at http://richardekelly.com/ and the book is now in its third edition.
If you're an author also interested in being on Rick Fearon's phone conference, you can contact him via
sixscreens06@yahoo.com. Those wanting to listen to it live can dial 712-432-8710 at 6:30 EST (or earlier for informal
chat), and when asked for your pin number followed by the pound sign, enter 9925#.
There is no charge for the
call, only your long distance calling rates will apply. Active JWs wanting to disguise their voices can muffle
those some and ask Rick for the voice-changer.
P.S. When on Rick's conference show, Richard mentioned that a sequel
called Ghosts From Moma's Club should be out sometime about December 2009-January 2010.

BRENDA LEE'S OUT OF THE COCOON
Brenda Lee
was a child in Pennsylvania's countryside, swinging on grapevines, having fun with her farm pets, exploring
the forests with cousins, enjoying holidays and birthdays until one day two Jehovah’s Witness strangers
knocked at her parents’ door.
Suddenly her childhood swirled into the vortex of a deadly
nightmare. Her life became oppressive. There was isolation and the numbing loss of normal socializing with other
people.
However, as a testimony to human endurance and resilence, ultimately
she would not only recover from being a victimized child but rise like a butterfly to change the world for the better about
her.
Today Brenda resides near Denver, Colorado. Her life in a love surrounding is happily filled
with scintillating meaning and achievement. She appeared in a TV documentary in 2009 and has also been in some
youtube videos.

Andy Walks With Me, authored by Ralph Heidler with an assist from his
wife Twila, explores the traumatic, abuse-ridden life of young Leroy in his daily encounters with Father, a psychotic,
dictatorial, would-be preacher. Compelled to escape Father’s agonizing punishments, Leroy has nowhere to go but within
his own mind to find the peace he needs to survive. Father, a harsh and unforgiving tyrant, did not spare the rod in raising
his fourteen children. Mother, who was distant and cold, provided the nursing care for her abused children but could not truly
love them or heal their inner pain. When Leroy becomes a young man, he assumes his birth name of Ralph, marries and begins
to raise six children. One day he disappears and mercifully loses his excruciating childhood memories. Forgetting his immediate
past as well, Ralph finds himself on a strange but eventful twenty-year odyssey that will eventually bring him back to confront
his childhood demons and the family he left behind.
A unique story of surviving human cruelty that devastated an entire family, Andy Walks With Me is heart-wrenching,
inspiring, and yes, even humorous.

KINGDOM HALL NO MORE By Daniel Chamberlayne
Permission to use the photos above were given
by author Daniel Chamberlayne. From left to right are: Daniel as an adult; Daniel as a child at the baptism about
which he had no say; the cover of his book.
Daniel Chamberlayne was raised in the middle class area of
Hollis, Queens, New York by his parents Warren and Louise Chamberlayne. In September of 1974, at the young age of 7, Daniel
experienced the tragic loss of his father while vacationing with his parents in Acapulco, Mexico and soon after, Daniel's
mother dedicated her life to Jehovah and became a baptized Jehovah Witness. With Daniel's father now gone, Young Daniel
was now indoctrinated as an associate of the Jehovah Witness by his mother and started attending the Kingdom Hall.
Daniel tried constantly to cope with the loss of his father by embracing
the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses.Of the many lessons learned, the one most favored was a prophecy of Armageddon arriving
in 1975 and all who had perished would return.Daniel would wait patiently only to realize there would be no 8th birthday cake,
no return of his father, and no answers.
Nevertheless, Daniel honored his mother and participated in all the activities of the Kingdom Hall throughout his
childhood till his early twenties. Stifled by the organizational rules and a great price to pay for anyone breaking them,
Daniel began to live a double life.
He continued on attending the kingdom Hall as instructed by his mother and on September 4, 1988, by no choice of
his, Daniel had gotten baptized as a member of the Jehovah Witnesses.
18 months later in the early months of 1990, while being confronted by the Elders, Daniel's
name was publicly read out at the congregation he had been attending for over 15 years that he was now "disfellowshipped"
and no longer recognized as a Jehovah Witness.
18 years later, Daniel has lived in New York, New Mexico and is currently living in Atlanta, Georgia with
his beautiful wife Kim and their son, Daniel.
NOTE:
I just interviewed Daniel by phone. He was and still is a creative person who was being stifled by Watchtower's
highly negative attitude and senseless rules until he finally came free of it. He and his family are Christians.

CRISIS OF CONSCIENCE By
Raymond Franz
In 1981 the Governing Body of the Watchtower Society over
Jehovah's Witnesses disfellowshipped Raymond Franz. This means they excommunicated and ordered all JWs to start
severely shunning Franz, and they did so after declaring that his views were "apostate," meaning against their own
views about God and God's will.
Franz
went on to write this biographic account which tells some of the Governing Body's hypocrisies such as their directing
JWs in Malawi, Africa, to not buy a cheap card saying they supported government even though this meant some were imprisoned,
beaten, raped and murdered although directing the JW Elders in Mexico to let JW males there keep buying cards false saying
they had done a year of military service.
The book reveals many other things that only a former insider at the very top of the organization could reveal.
No Ex-JW should be without a copy of this eyes-opener.
P.S. Raymond Franz has another great
book called In Search Of Christian Freedom as well as numerous essays. See his books and those of some others

DIANE WILSON The Awakening
Of A Jehovah's Witness
Donald Nelson, a former Watchtower missionary in Brazil has
written: "Diane Wilson, former long-time member of the Watchtower organization, has written a
veritable "spiritual thriller", describing her dramatic journey to psychological freedom. She explores with
frankness and passion her unfortunate servitude to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, an organization which views itself
as the sole possessor of all religious truth.
The fascinated reader will be swept along emotionally as Diane details
her odyssey to freedom from what most former Jehovah’s Witnesses describe as a mind-control cult. Diane spells out her
initial vulnerability to the unique claims of the Watchtower Society and her fierce struggle to disengage herself from such
powerfully persuasive people; in short, she reveals the dark side of Watchtower worship.
As a former high-ranking
member of the Watchtower Society, I can personally vouch for the veracity of her analysis of Watchtower methods and policies.
In my twenty-two years as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, I had attained the position of “Traveling Overseer”
both in the United States and Brazil. I am a graduate of the Watchtower Bible School, “Gilead”, and have spent
tens of thousands of hours attending meetings, studying their literature, going from door-to-door with the Watchtower message,
and giving sermons in hundreds of Kingdom Halls (Witness churches).
Diane’s description of life in the Watchtower
Society is painfully accurate. If the reader has friends or neighbors or loved ones in that Organization, Diane’s moving
autobiography will poignantly underscore the tragic position these individuals are in. The reader will put down Diane’s
book (and I’m sure most will read it in a single sitting) with a greatly enlarged understanding of what life in the
Watchtower cult is all about. And, perhaps more importantly, with deeper sympathy for those unfortunate people known as Jehovah’s
Witnesses."

Dr. Jerry Bergman (ExJW Elder) has had more than 40 books,
textbooks, monographs and book chapters, plus over 400 articles published in professional journals etc. His scholarly
book, Jehovah's Witnesses And The Problem Of Mental Illness proves the incidence among JWs, unfortunately, far
exceeds the average.
